As an avid listener to podcasts, I spend a good chunk of time collecting and adding to the list. The threshold for addition isn’t really that high; usually boiling down to:
- Something liverpool/ football related
- A podcast by an author I’ve read a lot
- A podcaster featured on a podcast I already listen to
- Something related to a topic I’m interested in
As of today, I have 496 pods in my feed, some of which are admitedly dead and are far too many to listen to properly. I am also finding that there is now considerable overlap in what I listen to, the best illustration of which is having the same people (on book tours) pop on several pods. Lately, I find myself letting my podcast inbox fill, and then manually clearing it out, rather than spend the time listening.
Podcast fatigue has landed, and I must do a big cull it seems!
