Between the continued weirdness of wordpress (the irony) and a desire to bring everything I have been writing/ curating online to a single home at this domain, I have been spending a lot of time going over old stuff and archiving them as static sites. My older wordpress blog and an old project I curated are now complete.
Going over all of those brought back memories of a more friendly, collaborative internet, one which seemed to engender communities of like minded people. Such was the camaderie that the likes of Malcolm Gladwell had to opine on the internet ties being weak, and academic papers. I have a number of real life friends from those days, some of which have translated to extended family meetups to this day.
If there’s is a moral to the story, it is that the low bar of creation on the internet also means a low bar from falling into deliquency, as I found whilst migrating the3six5Ng to a static site. Lots of links to blogs, twitter handles and other profiles are nowhere to be found on the interwebs. Link rot has struck, to our loss. One wonders what joys and enrichment we have lost to that!
