87. Tatted Up

One of the delights of going back up North was rediscovering my old haunts, chief of which was shiprow. When I still lived up there, I went through there several times a day – to and fro work, and for non-work days on to Union Square and/or Church.

Malones was the scene of many a Guinness filled night. I recall several company town halls at Molly’s Bistro. Alongside the old were a number of new places such as the Old Worskhop, Aberdam and the Ivy Lodge. This is all the fruit of a concerted effort to improve shiprow, and it appears to be bearing fruit given the sounds of late night revellers I could hear all through the night from my hotel.

The sign in Malones, surviving all these years, seems apt – Good things come to those who wait…
