Besides the great weather (increasingly tending towards tropical, rather than being merely pleasant), summer is also road works season out here. This is over and above the road works around Ottershaw meant to relieve the pressure around 2,000 new homes will add as part of ongoing developments.

Heading into Woking twice over the weekend – for the big shop and then church – meant that my twenty minute drive to Woking ended up nearer thirty minutes each way. As I only go down this road at weekends, I didn’t get to see the advance warnings, and so ended up scrambling around mid-drive to load up HereWeGo. My mental maps, anchored around the familiar route failed to cut it, as I had yet to stitch alternate routes together in my head.

Given the state of the roads, some intervention was clearly needed.What gets my goat though is that it is the same stretch of road getting repaired each year. The potholes seem to reappear on cue, once the cold, wet winter hits.

One would think more permanent, robust fixes are available as options to implement?
