On bring your child to work day, I decided to take the opportunity to drag L along, given how much interest she has shown in getting to know where I work.
There were the small matters of two meetings to navigate – an early one which ended at 9am , and the other which finished at 11am. The sweet spot then was to leave home after 11am and look to return at 3pm in time for the final meeting of the day at 4.30pm.
In between, there was a lot of walking around to pick up lanyards, dance and shout with the on-site kid’s entertainer and hang around the formula 1 cars (which seems to be her thing thanks to being exposed to those in the Victoria Place Shopping Centre in Woking). There was also a small toilet scare which was solved by a kind front of desk chap providing access to one of the disabled toilets which had been opened up to all for the day. Toilets with a young female kid has always been one of my fears on these daddy-daughter outings!
I suppose the seal of approval was her thumbs up at the end, when it was time to head back to the harsh world of home and meetings. She was a bit tearful, but I like to think she showed considerable maturity this time in not having a meltdown.
We are most certainly growing and maturing nicely!
